I recently appeared on the television show The Doctors to answer questions about the development of a male contraceptive pill.

A lot of interest has been generated because researchers have focused their efforts over the past several years on developing a male contraceptive similar to the female pill. Although this research has been going on for decades, the momentum seems to be increasing, and now scientists have potentially found an effective solution. The big question is, will guys take the pill (and will ladies trust them)? Continue Reading

An ageless love life begins with a confident approach toward sex. Celebrate Valentine’s Day by exploring the possibilities—don’t let your age stop you.

I cannot reiterate this point enough: attitude is the key to penis longevity. My superpotent patients tell me that sex gives them as much joy at seventy as it did at twenty. Some say it is even better! From my clinical experience, I have concluded that equal pleasure can be obtained from occasional, prolonged intercourse with one orgasm as with frequent, rapid intercourse with multiple orgasms. Don’t Let Penis Weakness Spoil Your Valentine’s Day

Since the month of February brings us Valentine’s Day and expectations of love, romance, and sex, now is a good time to discuss the epidemic of penis weakness—and how to avoid it.

I have witnessed an increased development of penis weakness over the last forty years. It is worth analyzing the social conditions that have created this outbreak. One could argue that men have always struggled with this condition. It could also be argued that the increase in penis weakness in recent years is only because men today feel more comfortable talking about their sexual problems. This is not the case. Powerful social and historical factors have contributed to, and continue to create, penis weakness among men today. Each individual case must have an independent evaluation. Continue Reading

Something’s wrong with me, Doc,” said Steve, a thirty-nine-year-old lawyer. “I want a complete urologic workup.”

I asked him what the trouble was. “I met this great woman,” he said. “We had a terrific first date on Valentine’s Day. She invited me in, one thing led to another, and before I knew it we were in bed. But I . . . well . . . I couldn’t . . . you know . . .” Continue Reading

Over the years, testosterone has usually been relegated to improving a man’s libido and bulking up the muscles of body builders. But recent studies indicate that testosterone is an essential factor in men’s health and, in fact, may be the best indicator of a man’s general health, according to a panel of experts reporting at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association in Atlanta. Let me state loudly and clearly that there is nothing wrong with masturbation. It is normal behavior that should not elicit any form of shame or embarrassment. Masturbation is not harmful and cannot be overdone. The only limiting factor is the possible irritation or abrasion of the skin of the penis. But, from my perspective, masturbation should be the “court of last resort” for most men. Continue Reading

In the context of my busy urologic practice, I am often asked if there is any way to make male orgasms last longer. This area is one where men are jealous of women. I call it Venus Envy. For reasons unknown, nature designed humans so that women can experience prolonged wavelike orgasms, while men can experience brief and thunderous orgasms, five to seven seconds in duration. Wouldn’t it be great, men dream, if we could make that ecstatic sensation last a full minute? Five minutes? An hour? So far, no one has come up with a way to prolong orgasm. However, we have found ways to delay it. Continue Reading
